Bluebell Nutty Coconut

Is coconut a thing you either love or hate? For the lovers: Bluebell Nutty Coconut which is "coconut ice cream with coconut flakes & chopped pecan pieces of almonds, pecans, & walnuts". (tragically, that illiteracy comes verbatim off the co. website.) (and they stubbornly don’t allow you to send them scolding emails.) Baskin Robbins was first w/ a nutty coconut, described as "coconut ice cream loaded w/ almonds, pecans & walnuts". Which aside from making sense literacy-wise, sounds identical to BB's description. Perhaps it served as BB's inspiration. Anyway the ONLY reason this gets a mention is cuz ice cream + new products = cornerstones of NYCE. Cuz otherwise, yuck

I think you are right about coconut, TG. Most people either love it or hate it. I am definitely in the "love it" camp, but coconut ice cream has never really caught my attention. Coconut rice, coconut curries, coconut cream pie ... the list goes on and on ... get my solid support, however

kirk, do you have any preference on almond joy vs mounds?
i had an xlnt coconut ice cream last wk at casa milagro, a texmex in richardson. (it comes w/ the choc cake.) i like texture and this had good/moist shredded coconut. but i don't like TOO much texture - coconut PLUS nuts, as in this crappy bluebell product, yuck

Actually, I like the nuttiness and texture of Almond Joy better than Mounds. Bounty is the best of the cococandy genre, though.

Actually I sort of like it but neither love nor hate it. In or things like German Chocolate cake or the Girl Scout cookie that comes with coconut is good (coconut as an accent). Where it is the "biggest" flavor, not so much.

Now this - Boston Cream Pie Ice Cream (Custard ice cream loaded with chocolate sandwich cookies and golden flakes, swirled with a milk chocolate ribbon) from Baskin Robbins sounds good ta me.

I'm not sure if you know this alredy, but if you put the lime in the coconut, you can drink them both together. After shaking them all up, that is.

mounds beat almond joy because the darker chocolate is better

I'm sure you've noted that I've been placed in the High Command Scientology Unit by the Grays. (You are, however, lacking on the congratulatory notes.) This seems to have caused some concern about how this will affect the Roman Catholicism of MY baby's pod, Katie. Rest assured that we in the Upper Echelon find Catholicism to be an acceptable form of mind control. Something needs to suppress you people's base animal instincts, and Catholicism has more than proved its iron thumb. Very few escape the clutches of the priests, or the weekly dose of lithium-laced wafers. Thank you for your concerns, however, and please go to church.

I wrote and mailed a physical letter to Blue Bell several years ago, thinking that maybe it would have more impact than an email, text, or phone call. In it, I begged them to PLEASE make Nutty Coconut ice cream again. Sadly, I got no response, and it’s still not being made. The last time I found it, the store had 5 gallons available, and I bought them all.
