Odwalla PomaGrand

Thanks to a mega-campaign by Pom Wonderful, pomegranate juice has become the new oat bran, w/ breathless reports of Vit C, folic acid, & esp antioxidants, admired for their cancer-fighting skills. Really, the only question is why Odwalla (which btw is owned by Coke) hadn’t jumped on the bandwagon sooner. (Maybe cuz Pom Wonderful bought the rights to the fancy extraction process.) But here comes Odwalla PomaGrand w/ 3 flavors: Pom regular (100 % pom), pom mango, & pomberry. Pom's fresh-tart taste (tho not as tart as cranberry) has made it a fave on the cocktail circuit: pomtinis, pomaritas & etc.

Now POMEGRANATES are real news you can eat -- unlike gum, which is more like news you can chew. Hint to those doing their pomegranates at home: harvest the seeds in a bowl of cold water. The seeds drop to the bottom, and the pith and peel float to the top. That way, especially if you are making a salad, you don't get a dressing that's all pith and vinegar.

Ron, you're a celebrated bon vivant; have you figured out how Avner at Aurora manages to make the pomegranate seeds on his sorbet palate cleanser so "tender"? Sometimes pom seeds can be a tough chew but not those.

Twisted Link always has the savvy gourmand's solution, altho that particular technique sounds more like Twisted Dog

I think that this extraction process better describes the horrors of a drink such as this.

Anything about cocktails is always appreciated. TG, can't you do a booze blog instead of wasting your time on this food stuff? Use your powers for good not boring

As a name, PomaGrand is a lot better than Pom Wonderful.

So what's with the new sign-in? Never had to jump through hoops before to make a comment

Every time I think of pomegranates, I am reminded of Poi Dog Pondering's album "Pomegranate," which includes this filthy ditty. "Diamonds and Buttermilk."

I wanna suck your guava juice,
get down on my knees and slip in your passion fruit.
I come in Diamonds and Buttermilk
and swim right in and out of you 'til you shake-a like the chills.
Licking the butter from your lillycoi lips
and deep-sea diving for the oyster in your hips.
Gonna suck your Kiwi right through my teeth
and split your Pomegranate,
gonna suckle on your seeds.
So slippery I'm feeling greedy,
gonna take you like smack to the needy.

NYCE is getting weighed down w/ spam ... if you look at older entries (don't bother, really), the comments section is filled w/ spammers. i thought there was just a wave of it in october, but i'm noting that it continues into december, so i'm biting the bullet w/ this anti-spam function. (it even makes ME type in letters.) (hint: for this comment, i had to type kbdaz). pls forgive the inconvenience...

I don't blame you. I started it in November myself. It's typically called splog, by sploggers, in a blog.

And, is Huatualco an entry code or a place in Oaxaca?

I haven't tried Odwalla's pom but I do enjoy the stuff I get at the farmer's market.

I used to buy the Knudsen stuff back when I was in college (yes, 20 years ago) at the co-op. It was pretty pricey then too, so I'd usually cut it with soda water as a treat.

(my word verification was vczua, which I think is a kind of vicuna/zebra hybrid)
