Home Sweet Home Cookin'
The SW corner of park & 75 is a hit-or-miss thing. Fishmonger’s has done OK for years and ugh there’s a Chili's. But it's seen lotsa M&Ps (mom & pops, helloooo) come and go, mostly go. Home Sweet Home Cookin’, which opened a couplo mths ago in a space formerly occupied by Amici Pizza (see what I’m sayin), does convey a clear message w/ its name: It's a home-cooking place. But owner LaDonna is less forthcoming (even a wee bit paranoid) about divulging her last name; fascinating philosophy for a restaurateur, eh. Her menu includes pot roast, Hawaiian chicken, pork chops, a ¾-pound burger, homemade chicken strips, cakes, and pies.

hawaiian chicken, huh? sounds like we're on a pineapple trend. and what by the way are "homemade chicken strips?"
they may require a lathe
on the farm, the way you make a chicken strip is to plunge it in a pot of boiling water. then you start grabbing at its feathers. pretty soon it's nekkid as a jaybird.
is the sea grill closed? wasn't it on this corner? i haven't been in several years but it did have some pretty wonderful thai-new american seafood.
did you go there in person? maybe your blue hair made her too scared to give her last name. i know it made me "jump" the first time i saw it. just kidding, ha ha.
tg: know anything about grace baking of san francisco? kroger's is carrying a chewy loaf of bread that has whole garlic cloves baked in it. several other breads, too, i believe, tho only tried the garlic. i like
they have a web site: www.gracebaking.com. you should look before you ask someone else to do your research,
Maybe LaDonna wants to be Madonna, or Cher, or Clairevoyant and only have one name.
does satan have a last name?
ladonna didn't seem to have the kind of diva personality that you find in the madonnas, chers, and clairevoyants of the world.
perhaps clairevoyant could summon her powers to glean ladonna's last name and share it with us. ledonna banana? ledonna yawanna. ledonna le'reed
as for the sea cruise, i mean, sea grill - on the tollway? are we getting our north-south freeways confused? never been in meself.
grace baking, NEWS TO ME! and there's nothing more exciting than news about BREAD! but doesn't WF have its own bakery? tho they did carry empire breads for a while.
db, i know the sight of blue hair can be TERRIFYING to some (some WUSSES, that is), but my conversation w/ the oh-so elusive ladonna was via phone. maybe that was enough to scare her. i'm a regular woodward & bernstein on the horn, baby
TG: The store carrying Grace Baking breads is not WF but the Kroger on Mockingbird. They too have a bakery, but I think it is staffed by the Keebler elves. Have never bought any of their breads a 2nd time, and wouldn't have discovered the Grace Baking garlic bread except they had some slices out for tasting. I was starving; making my regular dinner run of free grocery store samples. One taste and I sprung for a whole loaf. Also bought some jug wine, dog and cat food, a couple pieces of Kroger's yummy if grease-laden fried chicken and I was set for the night.
Twisted: Are you any kin to Missing Link? We served together in 'Nam. Great guy, just needed a body shave every other day.
Sea Grill did move from 75 to a West Plano location, tho I thought it kept the original spot open at the same time. It might have changed names with the move, too. Maybe a blog reader with access to DMN library could look it up. I hope it survived; the chef was extraordinary.
charlotte, you know i'm a fan of jug wine. with dog and cat food, do you go with red or white? Ball, my siamese, insisted on champagne tnite and i couldn't say no. you DID say kroger, didn't you. nice to hear of a s'mkt chain willing to be innovative (but i'll bet the inner city krogers are far more avant-garde than the ones on plano eastside).
db, are you saying that Missing Link had lots of body hair? does anybody know, does body hair run in the family?
tg: nice you have a siamese. nicer that my granddog is a catahoula, the state dog of louisiana. you never met a smarter, funnier, fiercer dog. she has the mailman, fedex and upi guys scared to death, does wonderful groucho marx imitations, twirls her treats like a cowboys cheerleader, and has a few other tricks i'm thinking of taking to david letterman. she's a hound dog, from the pound, and maybe, judging by her size, part great dane, but as a long-time cat person, i've rediscovered why dogs are among our best friends.
ps: there also is a grandcat, who got the cat food, tho frankly i am partial to the dog.
I PEE ON YOUR SWAMP DOG!
twisted: do i see a family resemblance between you and your dawg?
my long deceased first cat "shadow" told me last week, (i was channeling):
clairevoyant: my cat really loved your card. for his reaction, see bella greetings 1669
tg: help! start a new topic
as a child in greenland, i had a musk ox. it was the sweetest thing!
NYCE is a little slow today. i blame the publicists at pepperidge farm. but a product shot just came in!
and p.s. clairevoyant, since when was shadow YOUR cat? hrrumph
IT'S ABOUT FREAKIN' TIME!
