Ruby Tuesday

News of another chain restaurant always makes the pulse race, 'specially when the chain is, quote, "one of three large public companies that dominate the bar-and-grill category of casual dining, a segment that continues to show tremendous growth from consistent demand due to very favorable demographic trends, the capacity for new units, limited new competition, and same-store sales increases." Zzzzz huh what? Ruby Tuesday* originated in Knoxville, Tenn. but now has 700 outlets, including a new one in McKinney. Signature dishes include ribs, a burger platter, and a big salad bar. Just intro'd: fried Buffalo chicken wontons (mmm NOT) served w/ blue cheez dressing & celery, and "crabcakes" made w/ crabmeat & crawfish.

2901 South Central Expwy, McKinney. 972-540-9330

*ya suppose they bought the rights from the Stones?

Let's see if Ruby Tuesday customers can match the Chinese salad hackers and do this:

Heh.

One of my friends used to wonder whether it was in the company's profile to make all its restaurants the same s**t brown.

Good to find you busy!

In Greenland, the Inuits build towering constructions at the blubber bar.

ron, i'm unable to see the link you've posted

meanwhile, i'm grateful for doris' exciting tidbit re: ruby's exterior. but what, no review of those irresistible buffalo chicken wontons? their specialty seafood item is farm-raised tilapia, a fish so "mild" (bland, tasteless) you might not know it's fish at all

I read somewhere that tilapia go back to Biblical times and were likely the protein in the loaves and fishes miracle.

Here's a Web site to add to your favorites list: www.lileks.com/institute/gallery/spec.html

WARNING: Don't visit it unless you have a lot of time to kill.

To give credit where it's due, I got the address from Rod Dreher, whose Dallas Morning News' editorials make me gnash my teeth.

red ennk is begging to get banished from the NYCE comments section!

Whoa! Why? Terese, you don't have a thing for RD do you? And surely you're not jealous of a site that lets months go by between new postings. You're the best, girl, don't put me out to pasture.

Know you must be wondering where I've been. Did a brief house-sitting stint for Paris Hilton. She's such a sweet, sweet girl. I may become her social secretary!

Visited that site Red Ennk put up, and TG, you're right to banish him. The food the site makes fun of is what I learned to cook when I was a young, well, youngish, bride. It is all delicious and not at all "hideous" when done right. Come over for supper sometime, and I'll prove it to you.

Does TG think she is Queen Victoria or Donald Trump with her talk about banishing people?

You want to banish me, or make me vanish? I'll show you a really fast disappearing act.

I think you're being picked on, just like those poor goats and chickens at the Lombardi place. Soon as I remop my kitchen floors, I'll be back to defend you.

twistedlink is so very portland these days. save the fish! better everyone eats tilapia than deplete the cod fishery for me, babe. as for red ennk, links R good, but right-wing columnists R bad. NYCE is a den for RADICALS. there's no bigotry here against people of (purple-hazed or blue-haired) color. mary, i'd love to come over for dinner, but twistedlink is taking us all out for jello shots!

I went to a Ruby Tuesday in Delaware. They're all over the East Coast! It's just Chili's all over again. In fact, RT owns the Trademark "Triple Play," which is why Chili's renamed their's the "Mombo Combo."

Facsinating stuff.
