Ye Shire Tavern

Can you imagine opening a restaurant-bar and actually calling it Ye Shire Tavern? it takes a certain sensibility to go for such a goofy, faux-medieval name. a sensibility like dale wamstad, the colorful restaurateur whose ventures include III Forks. Ye Shire - may we call it Ye? - is casual/masculine, open lunch & dinner, w/ a big offbeat menu: chick breast, crawfish savannah (AKA etouffee), trout, fish & chips, RB sandwich, deviled eggs, and trifle, w/ most items about $10, the exception being the $25 prime rib. "Ye" is part of a wamstad-owned complex at 190 & Jupiter – not so far from NYCE HQ - which while-we-are-grateful is a kinda-weird part of town to do a development. Lemme put it this way: you don’t see too many starbucks over here. Not yet. But the center already has one of his silver fox steakhouses and there’s more places coming soon

yes, sometimes i think it is too bad his ex-wife wasn't a better shot. but he cooks a mean steak, especially if he wants to impress/spite you.

I was at The Fox two weekends ago; it was packed! I was suprised, but I shouldn't be. There isn't all that much choice out that way, and Dale does cook a hell of a steak. (He was sitting at the bar with a glass of water, BTW)

On Mother's Day - May 13, 2007 -
I took my mother, my son, my daughter and her boyfriend to Ye Shire Tavern. We were surprised to
find such a limited menu, but we
thought that we were in for a
wonderful meal. First of all, it
took over an hour for the food to
come. My son who had to go to work
that afternoon ended up arriving
there late. During that waiting
period we were not even given
any bread to eat. Then when the
food did arrive, the chicken breasts were not boneless and were
attached to legs. Three people in
our party ordered chicken and none
of them liked it. By the end of the
meal they told me that it was too
bad that we hadn't just gone to
Applebee's. So I asked to speak to
the manager. I explained to him
how 3 people in our party did not
like their meals. The manager
said that it was the chicken that
they always had on their menu.
When I added that the food was over
an hour arriving at our table and
that my son was going to be late
to work because of it, he did not
apologize either for the food or
for the time we waited. Then a
woman who worked there came over
and said that I was insulting
the manager. She told me to pay and leave! While I was paying,
I asked the waitress to give me
the address and phone number of
their corporate office. . I couldn't believe it when the waitress said that the rude woman was the owner! I ended up paying
$88.98 for a terrible restaurant
experience. At least the waitress
did something in taking off the
16% gratuity that had been initially added. The total bill had
been $104.99! I have eaten in
restaurants all over the world, and I have never been treated so shabbily in my life in a restaurant.
So never go to the Ye Shire Tavern
in Richardson. I still can't believe what happened today -
and it was Mother's Day!!!

Wow. I've been to Ye Shire a couple of times and always been treated very well. If not check out Parlour - the wine bar in the same center. The foods awesome. Ask for my friend Wayne.

To the person who had such a terrible experience, I would find every place online where I could post that review. Totally unacceptable. We had decent service when we ate there about a year ago, but we haven't been back because of the limited menu. Also, while the bar area was beautiful, the dining tables seemed too close together and drab.

Yes the menu is small but everything there is delicious! The atmosphere is great, not loud, very classy, but you can walk in wearing a pair of jeans and not have a problem. They also have a back room for parties or private events. The staff is always very nice and funny to me and i like going at least once a week. Very beautiful bar.

Well, I must agree about the limited menu... rather heavy, especially during the summer months.. and the new management, YIKES... very, very over bearing a bit of a heady pair (husband and wife)... My husband and I have been several times, but the last time we visited the "wife" just sat herself down and talked, and talked and made a nuisance of herself... we won't be back because of the management... and limited menu...

Wish we would have seen these comments before we paid almost $100 for a horrible dinner! The same owner was incredibly rude to us as well. She went around talking to all the other tables, when she knew we were not happy. Over an hour for food. I had to send my prime rib back 3 times!!! They offered us a free banana cream pie. I am sure it was probably frozen, just like the peas. We will NEVER be back, and I will tell all my friends not to frequent this place unless they like overpriced Swansons Hungry Man dinners.

There are several things I love about the tavern. One is it is open to almost everything from the dinning room. You can watch the bar from your seat and and observe Theirry the bartender mixing up his famous martinis. The kitchen has an opening so you can watch the food being cooked. It even has seating in front of the opening so for the food lovers you can sit and eat while you watch the food taking its shape. Another good thing about it being so open is that your server never has that weird vanishing trick where they duck off behind a corner never to be seen till the bill is ready. The service there is always friendly and prompt. The menu is some what short but perfected. I have been recently and seen several new great additions to it now. The food is always excellent, and if I ever have room for the deserts they are mouth watering..... overall it is a great neighborhood place with classy written all over it but you can still walk in with your shorts and sandals on. I will definitely be back time and time again. TRY THE FISH and CHIPS!!!

To the woman who went on and on about her bad meal on mother's day - I'm sure you're the typical type who goes from place to place,
finds one thing wrong to complain about, then wants a free meal. Why else would you want the corporate number - because you know the scam!! Sure you waited an hour - no one believes that because no one would put up with that. My husband and our neighbors from the Spring Park area frequent the Tavern weekly to get our prime rib fix and it is always wonderful. We love the menu being limited as everything is perfect. Also, the owners and staff are always warm and friendly and have never been overbearing - just fun folks who realize customers enjoy being recognized and enjoy a convivial atmosphere.

Dale Wamstad is a class act, and so was the late, great Jackie Shields. All this Dale bashing is BS. The man's a business genius, and if those stories in the Observer so many years back are true, I have never seen that side of him - and I used to work for Dale.

Dale Wamstad is a Crazy old F--k who can't cook his way out of a wet paper bag. This guys food sucks! But your probably used to that in Texas.

Dale is full of SH*T. HE is a snake oil salesman that wants all the money himself. He is an angry man inside. He has never chilled out. The Lost Lay will prove that ask anyone! 3 months with a restaurant then quit? t
Thats his way, he wins or quits! He should be sued over the way he treats employees. Go to hell Dale!!!
