Ben&Jerry’s In a Crunch

It’s w/ dread that this item about Ben & Jerry’s In a Crunch ice cream gets posted. I mean, right on to B&J for finally intro’ing a new ice cream; it’s been a while. And this one sounds intriguing: "PB ice cream, fudge-covered peanuts, crispy fudge swirl" (sorry, no personal testimony, but jeez, it’s 350 cals-per-serving and horror of horrors, it wasn’t on sale). Peanut butter = trending up as an ice cream flavor, so you might think "hey, what's the problem". But hello, B&J already has 2 other PB flavors: Peanut Butter Cups and Chubby Hubby, an awesome contrast of fudge-cov’d pb-filled pretzels in vanilla MALT ice cream w/ pb & fudge swirls. Can one company sustain three PB ice creams? Will the clearly superior Chubby Hubby take a fall?

I've never passed on ice cream because of calories before. But I think B&J's flavor selection hasn't been all that since they sold the company. Maybe the two aren't linked, but any new pints seem to lack inventiveness.

I like peanut butter and of courwse I love ice cream but I don't think the two go together. And whenever they do peanut butter, they always seem to throw in chocolate, as well. Just too rich.

What is the music that's on that "horrors" link?

"In a Crunch" sounds good. I don't care for CH (malt...ewwwww). I'm a Chunky Monkey/Half Baked kinda guy.

And with ice cream half of the old adage holds true, you can never be too rich.

Anytime you got peanuts, you got something good. That's just the way it is.

Ben & Jerry's struck out badly with the "core" line (pint of ice cream with a single swirl down the center), stupid, stupid idea.
