Cafe Japon

While not as fervent or fecund as other cults (such as those who go nuts for BBQ), sushi has its followers, and they’re the ones who'll care most deeply about Café Japon, a new spot in restaurant-crazed Addison. Café Japon (no relation to the more recently spawned, some might say derivative, Japon Steakhouse & Sushi) comes from Houston, where it has 3 branches & lotsa raves for being good + affordable from grass-roots diner food sites. For further validation: Japon supplies sushi to Rice Univ as well as the Eatzi’s-like Rice Epicurean Mkt.

While you obviously ignorant types will be eating NIP food at this terribly misspelled restaurant, rest assured that Katie and I WILL be spreading the truth about Scientology. And if you want nuts, I'LL SHOW YOU NUTS. KATIE LOVES MY NUTS! YOU SO DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT NUTS. I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT NUTS!

Is this near Monica's and Go Fish, or is it on the other side of the Tollway?

it's on the same side of the tollway as monica's & go fish (which would be: WEST of the tollway, altho monica/go fish is on the south side of belt line and this is north side, across the street).

someone told me it's in a former Container Store, but i don't ever remember seeing one up there, altho i confess, i don't get up to addison too often

I was up there last night. I don't recall seing it, but there is something new being built right next to BJ's. The parking lot is all dug up. Any ideas what that is? It could be a bank. People love to build them a bank.

It is in the old Container Store, to which BJ's is just west and Pot Belly Sandwich Works is just east, in the same strip. The space has been empty for the 2 years I've been working up here and I can't remember how long before that.

So now, between those 3 and Chammps, there will be no parking for nobody, no time, nowhere within a nut's throw of Tom's cojones.

Ah well... the fish was frozen first anyway... ;-)

truthfully, i'm much more interested in the place that's going next door to cafe japon. (which ahem will very possibly be a blog item in the "near future." bk, if you know what i'm talking about, bite your tongue! hee. and thanks for the confirmation of the container store deal.) in order to track down those mystery-blog people, i hadda go thru the cafe japon folks first. who seem very nice btw.

Did that used to be an old Office Depot? There'd been a sign up for OD for years, but I'd never seen a store.

Tom's Balls is a town just outside Houston, and so is Katy. Suck on that.

I was born and raised in Houston, and I am from a sushi eating family. We would eat at Japon quite a bit. Decent sushi. Can't really complain, but if your up in Addison anyway, I would just go to Kampai.
