dulce de leche Oreo, yawn

Today's theme is "marginal"... after all, these ltd-ed dulce de leche Oreos are only marginally new (they've been out a while), marginally of interest (oh boy another dulce de leche item which i would've ignored altogether but these were on sale), & marginally edible (they taste way grossfakesweet). dulce de leche has many fans, but the flavor succeeds best in a dairy context. what IS of interest is how these underscore the importance of oreo's standard filling. you'd think most of the "oreo flavor" lay in the choc cookie, but no, for oreos to be oreos, they need the white goo

*note how cookies in photo mimic the ones on the box!

These might be good on ice cream, or maybe crumbled into pudding.

I once had dulce de leche. Notice I said ONCE.

They aren't bad, but they aren't as great as they should be.

It being latte (that's being late "en Francais") I only have 2 things to comprendez:

1) H-G dulce de leche light ice cream is deadly great and I'm happy to see that TG has picked up on that.

2) How did you get that cookie-top to levitate up for the picture? Did you, perchance, steal Ray Walston's antennae and then Photshop them out??

DOG KILLER EATS ALL THE WHITE GOO SHE CAN GET.

I've had a box of these for the past week and a half, but I haven't had the urge to eat them. They taste a little too sweet for me. I'm kinda glad they're limited edition.

Delighted to see that the bilingual requirements in Canada are having such a profound effect on you Western Canadians.

As for moi, I'll skip the dulce de leche (which just tastes like burnt condensed milk to me anyway), and head to PFK for Twoonie Tuesday.

I am quite sure the mongrel dog could not withstand the pressures I'm constantly subjected to. I had, um one margarita, and I was starving ’cause I had not ate all day, I was on my way to In-N-Out which was probably three blocks away, and I was in my SLR, which is a little fast, so maybe I was speeding a little bit. But my blood alcohol was only .8 - the bare minimum in Calif. It doesn't really seem fair to me.

As for Kirk, Western Canadian, Eastern Canadian, whatever. There is L.A., there is New York, and of course there is Paris - and then there is everything else.

BK, your ray-walston-antenna theory is a good guess, but i took a different path in my cookie levitation.

after separating the cookie from the (rather too) moist dulce de leche filling, i gave the cookie a penetrating stare. this is a page out of twisted link's book. he is known for wreaking dastardly deeds with his laser-like stare; in fact, he was once sitting in front of the bishop arts 4-plex he used to own, and as he stared at the stately old tree in front of his house, a massive branch, fully 1/3 of the tree, actually fell to the ground in fright. (true story. yes, it had been raining, but the lesson is, do NOT sustain eye contact with twisted link for more than 5 minutes or your heart will stop.)
so anyway, after putting the choc cookie on notice with my twisted stare, i said, cookie, i want you to forget everything you know about gravity and isaac newton and simply float next to the rest of the cookie to which you were once so attached.

it also helps that the cookie's edge was stuck to the dulce de leche center, so moist it's like glue. which is part of why i care so little for these oreos

Scott Roche, your photo (or should that be "photos") is something else!

Just for the record, I'd like to state that I can only use my staring powers for evil and destruction. If I had tried to levitate a delicate oreo cookie top, it would have blown into bits. Good job on a tricky piece of work.

I should mention that not all of New York interests me. For example, I have zero interest in the gramercy park hotel, and as for Milla Jovovich, well, let me put it this way: "Cee You Next Tuesday", Milla!

When I think 'dulce de leche' I think 'Caramel made out of goat milk', which is what it is made of in Mexico. Nothing says 'Yum' like some Goat-Milk-Oreos.

Ditto what Marvo said. Mine have been in the deep freeze for a month or so. About once a week, I pull them out to see if they taste any better. No such luck.

What they should have done is made regular Oreos with a thin layer of actual dulce de leche on top of the white goo.

I agree the Dulce de Leche Oreos were nasty. It is not even close to what the real dulce de leche is. The taste was very artificial.....

the cookies are not great for Dulce de Leche, but they're awesome if you imagine eating a cookie in the flavor of Starbuck's Caramel Frappacino!
