We'll definitely be among the throngs.
I DON'T SEE ANY DOG BOWLS. I THOUGHT WALTRINA WAS INTO FOOD.
I like the unconventional pictures you are adding. This photo comes from Waltrina's estate sale?
Ms.ery, you got any un-used matchbooks or boxes from any of the "legendary" Dallas establishments you must have been to during your reign?
I was wondering who made off with my mother's mixmaster... now I know.
That place looks like it was airlifted right off of Austin St. in Jefferson, TX.
Matchbooks! Now we're talking.
I hope there are some cookbooks that go beyond "Great Martinis" with loopy cover pictures, because if there are, I am so there! A soliloquy about Grey Goose vs. Belvedere is not what I need right now in my life.
tg: thanks for the big mention. I just looked at the 24-7 site and have e-mailed them asking them to correct that food editor for the News bit. I was food editor for the Sunday magazine for 10 years, but as you and probably ex-coworker know, I was never editor of the food section. Who is ex-corker?
twisted dog: the photos only show a tiny bit of what is being offered. They were taken as the displays were being set up, and the woman who took them kindly tried to avoid showing the most embarrassing parts of the house. I don't recall having a dog bowl, but I do remember seeing a cat-shaped cutter for making dog biscuits, and there are lots of dog things in the sale, like the handmade Snoopy coat hanger.
Philumenist: not many good matchbooks. I used them up smoking, but I do have a great lamp from the original Old Warsaw and a French cookbook with the owner-chef's name inside.
if any of you do make it by, look for the haggard-looking woman who's talking to herself and going outde to a cig every now and then. That will be me. getting this sale ready has been a real challenge and we still have stuff to do before the 10 a.m. Friday opening.
lol@twisted link "I'll take anything I can use to set fire to stuff." thats funny. I wish i knew about this sooner!
Cheers,
Robyn
