new Cafe Brazil

Among the things Dallas can congratulate itself for having, bohemianism isn’t one; there just isn’t much of it. Prob the closest it gets is Cafe Brazil, a mini-local-chain that serves semi-healthy food, breakfast all day, & bottomless cups of coffee, and even better, keeps late-night hours. Well a new Cafe Brazil on Greenville Ave opens tomorrow in the little strip next to Stan's Blue Note. This 7th branch basically replaces the veteran Lakewood branch, which shut down recently after losing its lease. Its opening reinforces the fact that Greenville is reasserting itself as the entertainment zone now that deep ellum's on the decline.

Interesting choice for location, location, location. Isn't there already a Cafe Brazil on Central between Mockingbird and Lovers? Maybe they're following the "store on every other corner" followed by Starbux?

The other Cafe Brazil near there, on the NB 75 service road, is north of University/south of Lovers.

I lived 4 blocks from this area from 1999-2005 and this place will make a killing there. And, with the steakhouse grill -- owned by the Hurricane next door -- soon opening in the GBG spot, there will be even more food action to soak up the Dubliner pints!

Pony Keg was a bust from the get-go... to close in concept to Stan's next door. They have been empty for months.

Velocity quickly busted before that... could never attract the Fickle 500 club crew. Not really sure what it was before that, but it was similar in concept to Velocity and 'm bar' comes to mind as the name.

Keep me posted on how the place does. I remember thinking that location was cursed as a parade of businesses (usually clubs) came and went in the years I lived in East Dallas.
