ben & jerry's etceteras

In an effort to post something today ( no clever links... damn deadlines), here's a really advance note bundled w/ some new flavor news to make it look like you're getting big value
1. Free scoop day at Ben & Jerry's Apr 25. 12 noon-8 pm. The press release describes the 4-oz scoop as "3 inches across!" 3 whole inches of ice cream haha whoa
2. And say, there's a new (instore-only) flavor: Bananas on the Rum = banana + buttery rum brown sugar swirl
3. meanwhile, at the supermarket, The New 2006 Flavors (ta-da):
Turtle Soup (vanilla + fudge-cov'd caramel cashews + caramel swirl)
Vermonty Python (coffee liqueur + choc cookie crumb swirl + fudge cows)
Neapolitan Dynamite (cherry garcia+choc fudge brownie "side by side". lame)
and a buncha new sorbets mostly snoozy except for
Jamaican Me Crazy (pineapple + passion fruit swirl).
god knows B&J deserves praise for at least trying to intro new stuff (unlike the rest of the corporate ice cream dopes). and yet still, this all seems kinda zzz, duznt it

tg, NO, not zzzzzz at all. mucho excitement!!!
(mostly because i don't have to look at cranberry chews any more).
i love the names that b&j come up with but i wish they hadn't jumped on the napoleon dynamite bandwagon, it seems so facile.

in case anyone is wondering, my favorite looks like vermonty python, yum. i predict huge sales in NC

yknow, i thought the vermonty python seemed good at first - i like the concept (coff + choc = good) - but i'm not much for cookie crumbs. and "fudgy cows" don't sound all that different from the "fudge fish" that are in Phish Food, and those are kinda gross

Oh my. Did Clairevoyant say facile? Well well well. INDEED.

Clairevoyant finds the premise of jumping aboard the Napoleon Dynamite bandwagon a tad facile, does she!

I think Clairevoyant's a little too classy to be hanging around this joint!

Bet she'd like this new line of drinks intro'd by the guy who created Red Bull: It's called Carpe Diem. That's Latin for "seize the day". Whoo-hoo! (But I bet that hi-falutin Clairevoyant awready knew that.)

Oooooh. Free cone day. The best day of the year. Thanks for the reminder; I am marking my calendar right now.

Spring has sprung!!

The Turtle Soup sounds good. And I hate hate HATE pineapple (the dentist had 'pineapple' flavored flouride when I was a child and it was a vile-tasting thing; even as an adult, the thought of pineapple makes me sick to my stomach), but I sort of want to order Jamaican Me Crazy because I like the name....

The only deja vu I have is this same lousy Ben & Jerry's two days in a row. What gives, no "News You Can Eat" on Thursdays?

Scaling back? Well I can't blame you but updates will be missed. I wish I had a B&J store nearby. I just went to one on a trip to Chattanooga and it was yummy!
