Big Gulp soda

Do you hafta grow up drinking soda to appreciate it? Personally, not much of a fan aside from a Dr P now & then. And acc to an item in the NYTimes (brought to you by kirk), soda's on the decline (to sum up: # of cases sold is down .7 %, Coke -2%, Pepsi -3.2%). But nevermind all that. this Big Gulp Soda seems newsworthy as more than simply 7-11's new house brand bottled soda entry. Cuz it's made with real cane sugar, which is a big deal among certain soda types. And fyi, even to someone who didn't grow up drinking soda, this stuff tastes pretty good. There's also an apple-ginger which was eh, and a mint which wasn't available at the time of purchase.

Wondered if you'd mention the Dublin Dr Pepper. I remember when it was not available and people made field trips to get that stuff.

What do you mean, MINT. Mint cola? Or mint soda. Weird.

T.G., is it just that picture or is the top of this bottle unusualy wide for a soda bottle?

The mint soda is pretty interesting, but, as with most mint things, it isn't as minty as I'd like. It also has lime in it, which isn't very limey, either. If they'd throw in some rum, it'd be a pretty good drink.

LOVE me some soda. Root beer, cream soda, RC Cola, coupla moon pies, and I'm a happy feller.

How funny that the little fleabag would pipe up when it's obvious that's exactly who she was talking about.

I heard these were coming out. After reading your post, I stopped by two 7-11s hoping to find one, but neither of them had one. It's probably on the slow boat here.

I didn't grow up drinking a lot of soda, drank it for a while to rebel and now don't touch it that often. Maybe if I'm grabbing something a la fast food or am tired of water. Cane-sugared soda might make it worthwhile.

Mexican Coca Cola supposedly rocks the socks of Dublin DP.

I tried that Big Gulp mint soda once. It tasted like B.O. :P

It looks like there selling their sodas as "7-11" sodas rather than "Big Gulp" sodas.
