JITB Root Beer Float

thanks to the impulsive buy for the kick-ass pic

Disclaimers: Jack in the Box's Root Beer Float has been out since mid July but eluded detection. (It’s an awful busy summer when a JITB visit hasn’t been made for 2 mths.) So, this item, not fresh off the griddle. Even if it were brand-new, a JITB RB Float might not have the same news value as, say, a coffee Kit Kat. (Which is, like, wow.) Finally, yesyesyes any idiot can make a rb float at home. The point is, how cool that a standard fast-food chain (exception: A&W) offers something off-the-assembly-line such as this. Made w/ soft-serv & Barq’s RB, available for a limited time ifyouwant1betterhurryB4it’sgone

That's a good picture, but confusing. Is thre a shadow across the middle? My confusion is, do you know if this has root beer on the bottom, or is it all mix up, like a root beer flavor shake.

"mix" - - should be mixed!

Have you tried the float? Is Barq's something special? Root beer can't compare to Dr P

karen: if it were "mixed up", it wouldn't be a "float." Generally, the way you make a float is you scoop the ice cream in a glass and pour the beverage over it.

i don't understand you dr pepper fans who turn your nose up at root beer. what's the attraction with prune juice, unless you are as constipated as your complaints make you sound.

red: dr pepper is a texas thing, a provincialism, if you will. texans go even more hog wild when they can get a few bottles from the original plant --around waco, i believe --since these are sweetened with genuine cane sugar. and of course, they love the 10, 2 and 4 motto, since texans are mostly really lazy

you know in most of the country, orange crush is the nol 3 cola, after coke and pepsi. only in the south, most specifically texas, does dr p get in the running.

karen, if you click on the item's headline, you'll see JITB's photo which shows a more defined separation between RB & ice cream. m.b., i'm not sure what happened w/ NYCE today; it WAS on the fritz for a few hrs. (i also had trouble posting this ayem.) i'm crushed to report that i haven't tried this item yet but, like clairevoyant (and UNlike kirk), i'm a fan of RB floats. are they more common in the north? but i like dr pep too; i'll take my prunes wherever i can get em (altho red ennk, i hate to tell ya but i'm pretty sure dr p has even less prune juice than Dreamery BLACK Raspberry Avalanche has black raspberries).

clairevoyant, that mid-july link was designed 'specially 4 U. XO!

emmmjay: even tho i am a yellow dog democrat and you sound republican, i know you're a nice person and more tolerant of other people's opinions than the moderator/boss of this blog. don't let her keep you from posting. and i hope you can smile at this, which came from the balkinization blog via the washington post:
Q: What is George Bush's opion on Roe vs Wade?
A: He doesn't care how people get out of New Orleans.

I've never enjoyed rootbeer floats. Something about the mixture of a water-based soft drink with ice cream doesn't appeal to me. I do like root beer, though. I've actually been on a root beer binge lately, picking up one (or, if necessary, four or six) of every bottled variety I can find in town.

Speaking of black raspberries, TG, Henry Weinhard's Black Cherry Cream Soda purports to include natural black raspberry flavoring (in addition to the cherry, of course). If you're ever at Ifs, Ands & Butts, consider giving it a try. (However, as a straight cherry soda, I think Boylan's is better.)

hey scott, was thinking of you becuz at tom thumb tnite, i finally saw the new coolbrands logo/packaging on the dreamery line. also noted only THREE flavors, just as you forecasted. but 2 are our faves: the black rasp & the peanut butter (the 3rd: waffle cone).

this root beer spree... does it portend a classic scott taste test on root beer?

Rootbeer tastes like toothpaste. Why would anyone drink that?
