Celestial Seasonings "ice cream"
One sign a company – oooh, say, Celestial Seasonings – has been corporatized (by, say, Hain): the name shows up in places you’d never expect. New! Celestial Seasonings Tea Dreams nondairy frozen dessert, made w/ Rice Dream (by Imagine, another Hain buyout and maker of Soy Dream, totally the best soy milk out there, eff Silk). Flavors incl apple, peach, strawb, but the 2 sampled were vanilla ginger spice thai ("zesty ginger ribbon" + gingersnap "chunks") (quotes = a wee bit of overstatement) and choc caramel chai (choc chips + "hint of chai spice"). This being a tea-themed product, wheredya suppose tea falls in the ingred list? Last. After safflower oil, caramel variegate, guar, locust bean, the usual gums ... last but not least, black tea extract. That said, the ice cream's not all that bad, tho hardly velvety, zesty, or hinty.

Love the "Oh say" link!
Thanks for being brave enough to try the ice cream, too. Usually, I think, "That Hain't good" when I see the parent company logo.
and that is of course Olympic track-and-field gold medallist carl lewis, in 1993. poor guy!
(thank you for noticing)
Aren't ingredients listed by weight?
yeah by weight or percentage. there's no tea there. it's one of the fine-print ingredients that's "less than 2%" of the total stew. whatzat have to do w/ celestial seasonings? i mean, jeez, it's like they're just using the name as a selling point, man
tg: haven't taken time to look at your links, and i'm not going to be posting much today. besides not wanting to cause another meltdown, i've got writing deadline. just wanted to note that your posting would have been ever so much more enthusiastic if the ice cream were flavored with even 1 percent of a certain coffee!
Re: Carl Lewis ... See what performance-enhancing substances can do to one's system? I suspect that was his voice cracking due to his second or third puberty!
But, see, the tea is just an essence, like an afterthought. out there in the ether, where my mind spends it's days.
(by the way, did anyone else notice the misspelling of celestial on tg's posting?
or were you all just being polite?
Just being polite.
tl: growing up with 3 english majors in my house, you'd think i'd know better.
it's a real problem, it is.
Politeness here.
Celestial, fixed! just a tiny little typo. wrought in the rush of speed to get this item posted. please forgive. politeness not necessary. corrections welcome. these items should be 100% correct!
Ice Cream. Meltdown, (he, he).
That's all I've got.
