penzeys spices
OK it's a multiple choice (fun!). What is most interesting about Penzeys* Spices, a new store set to open in mid-Aug at Preston & 635?: 1. That it’s based in Brookfield, WI (which is home to a spice company … why?). 2. That a store dedicated to spices seems to indicate that spices are yet-another food category undergoing the same "boutiquification" as coffee, bread, cheese, etc. 3. That it’s located in a former tire center. 4. That it has more than 20 stores across the mid-section of the country and is spreading W and SW. 5. That its name sounds very much (one might even say suspiciously) like a certain FW-based spiciere* and that, after this dallas branch, there's talk of a FW branch too.

*do ALL spice companies have some kind of issue w/ apostrophes or what?

The addition of Penzey's to the Dallas area is great news, tg. They have a huge selection of very high quality spices and spice mixes. In fact, they may be the only reason anyone would ever want to go to Brookfield, WI.
I've been confused by the similarity to Pendery's in the past, too.
I am also a fan of The Spice House, which was started in Milwaukee by one of the Penzey daughters and her husband, and has since expanded to the Chicago area. (If you want to visit their website, makes sure you type www.THEspicehouse.com, because you'll get something entirely different if you omit the "the.")
nice work kirk (hey i rhymed). having never been to penzeys OR WI, i was hoping someone might be able to weigh in w/ some personal experience
Only in the Madison, WI, store.
I guess 2. or 5. Do we get points for getting the right anser?
quiz taker didn't read the question, which was WHAT IS MOST INTERESTING ABOUT....? hence, there can only be one answer. however, any one of the five choices you make is correct if it is the most interesting to you.
Is that all you've got Gubbins? Sugar and now Spice?
you forgot caffeine
Yeah, the S Bux.
I use AmericanSpice.com pretty much exclusively. I've had a couple of experiences with Pendery's, but deliver was a bit slow.
