Haagen Dazs banana split

equal time for HD

Summer's the time for banana splits and limited edition ice cream flavors and every day is a new day. which is a roundabout way of saying, pls ignore the fact that yesterday's item was also on a ltd-ed ice cream and banish all thought that today's item could thus seem repetitive. Haagen-Dazs claims this limited edition banana split ice cream is available jan- oct. but i just saw it at super-T so let's go w/ "it's new". banana split as an ice cream flavor has "historically" been a low-end/ generic thing. but w/ ice cream becoming a corporate conglomerate clusterF and everyone having to offer the same 5 flavors, there is now a higher-end version. HD's has banana ice cream, "whipped cream" (?) ice cream, choc fudge, and pieces of "real" strawberries and cherries. vs the fake ones.

That sounds interesting.

When I was growing up there was a real cheap-o brand of ice cream (it may have been Mayola, but I won't swear to it) that had an Apple Pie flavor. It was gooooooood. It had chunks of apple and even pieces of crust.

this is all beyond me. tg, how can you complain about the dog of the day link, when you get it and the cat of the day on your "new day" link? was twisted able to go into your original post and change the links? i got to learn how to do this linking thing. in the meantime, did you see the dallas morning news story today about how starbucks closed down this small-town Texas coffee place. it is the Wal-Marting of the heartlands all over again.

capt. E.: that apple pie ice cream sounds so gross. what i miss from the old days is the "ice milk" confections, low calorie and low price. most weren't very good, but there was one pecan variety that i loved and when i was broke, which was a lot of the time, i bought it by the half gallon and ate it for breakfast and dinner. lunch was an iffy proposition, but you can't brown-bag ice cream to the office.

weren't some of those cheapo ice creams called mellorine? or something like that.

yes, ms. worth, you're correct. but i'm afraid mellorine is no longer pc

i find the idea of "limited edition" food rather amusing, and the fact that anyone might take the claim literally even more so. should we be COLLECTING ice cream containers and candy wrappers in anticipation of the day when they will be worthy of auction at sotheby's?

capt: think Mayola is a dairy-free mayonnaise.

i'm actually becoming quite fond of twisted dog. the more you look at him/her, the more you see the innate sweetness

oops. no good trying to be anonymous on that last comment. of course, most of you would recognize it as me. was just a slip of the typing paws. believe me, a cat doesn't have it much easier at a typewriter (or pc) than a cockroach like archie

and t. kovel, i have a lovely 1998-era empty container which formerly held a quart of Starbucks Biscotti Bliss (coffee ice cream w/ choc-covered biscotti chunks ... a flavor that was tragically, prematurely discontinued). i rinsed it out, it's quite a nice package - it shows starbucks' old graphic design. (also have sbux ltd-ed xmas decorations, rare magnets, even a slide depicting a bottle of frappuccino, which is sure to fetch a pretty penny on ebay!!)

mehitabel, that "Cat of the Day" link came from ME, not that mangy twisted dog. it doesn't seem fair that twisted dog gets credit for links that i go to the trouble to find. but i guess you cats & dogs all gang together, even tho we humans do all the work
