People always
say they want to eat healthy. then the minute the
waitress comes over, it’s,
I’ll have the 22-oz ribeye w/ fries plz, and xtra dressing for my salad. The upshot: places that
ID themselves as healthy haven’t
historically done well. that won’t stop plucky
Zoe’s Kitchen,
founded in Birmingham AL in 1995
by an actual person named zoe. "Plucky"=clever cuz zoe does lotsa chicken. its logo used 2B a chicken. & the owner,
who is son of zoe, sez his mentor is the guy who runs
chick fil-A. also on menu: soups, salads, samwiches, wraps. It has about 2 doz branches,
most in AL & TN, w/ big plans for
expansion. Its first tx branch is on lovers @
the tollway. if such a place could survive anywhere in dallas, it would be the park cities
5710 West Lovers Lane, Suite 108. 214-357-0100 (opening this friday or next monday - how hot izzat)

First!
And on a more substantive note, yeah if I want healthy, a restaurant is the last place I go.
I'LL BE EXPECTING SOME RESIDUALS FROM THIS JOINT. PREFERABLY SOMETHING THAT BENEFITS MY MONETARY HEALTH.
Have you tried it, Dean?
Dean, ol' boy... Lover's & the Tollway is in TG's neck of the woods like Frisco is around the corner from Garland. Not even close.
Ssssh, BK. TG might not want certain people to know where she lives. I should know. I was eavesdropping on her phone conversation just this morning.
Dean sure does know his way around the Metroplex!
Dean oughta hire himself a lawyer who knows how to READ THE FINE PRINT. Says right there at the bottom of today's entry that this joint don't open until Friday or Monday. I doub that TG, even with her wily ways, can comment on the food yet. Unless she's getting some kind of special treatment. If that's the case, then I'm suing Zoe's for every penny they're worth.
That Dean guy is seriously challenged on several dimensions, but especially geography. I know where he lives, and it's not in the Metroplex. In fact, he's a lot closer to my friend King Abdullah than he is to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
By the way, my date with Abdullah Rex on Saturday was wildly successful. I killed with the following joke:
The Vice President: Your Highness, do you know what the Shi'ite said to the Sunni?
King Abdullah: No, Mr. Vice President. What did the Shi'te say to the Sunni?
The Vice President: He said, "Please, Mr. Sunni, PLEASE don't kill me with those big American-supplied weapons you got from Saudi Arabia!!"
We were all the way through the dates course and mint tea before the King stopped giggling.
VP with hand in pocket feel cocky all day long.
Lovers Tollway?
Sounds like a French Porn film!
Will the REAL Dick please stand up?
Dick?
He's at an undisclosed location. I'm lookin' for the little bugger, too.
If you want pretty nurse, you got to be patient.
i was thinking of decreeing an end to gibberish on this blog but then i realized that taking away the gibberish would mean there WAS no blog. so. gibberish away. altho i still won't tolerate comments about eating dog. had my fill of those
What about cat, as was suggested by twisted dog a few items back?
Don't even go there, mutley!
and, i would predict that decreeing and end to gibberish would result in an onslaught of such. wouldn't you agree?
i don't see whereas we have any choice NOT to agree. what with clairevoyant thinking she knows everything
"what with clairevoyant thinking she knows everything"
She DOES know everything.
OK... if she DOES know EVERYTHING, 'splain this to me, Lucy:
Are recent ex-DMN'ers now infiltrating the foodies at the Dallas Observer? How else does one explain this week's review of buffet chain Royal Chopsticks? In "let's go out somewhere special" season, no less! Will next week's review be of Golden Corral?
Time to leave, now... a rez is awaitin' soon.
I've never heard of someone ordering 'extra dressing' with a salad. Wow.
meow!
bk, on the one hand, i'm 100% with you on the "what tha hell?" when it comes to the observer reviewing royal chopstix. i hardly ever eat chinese, and a chainlet, who cares. but on the other hand, i know People in Plano who go there pretty regularly, and i know that the observer critic has a thing for chinese, and last but not least, the review DID tell me some news i did not know, which is that royal chopstix is owned by the same guy who owns this other, similar chainlet in the burbs, the vietnamese-themed Pho Quo Huong. (there is even a branch of each in east plano, which is practically a goddamned miracle.)
but even with all that, i go back to your original point, which is, why, as in, why review that place?
Plano's all fast food joints and Pet Smarts, no?
Hey! There's way more smart pets outside of Plano!
With the exception of my good friend, Ball, of course.
I've tried their Destin, FL, location. The food is heavenly -- truly. Almost too yummy to be good for ya.
And yes, Plano is brimming with fast food joints and PetsMarts. On every corner there's a church and a gas station, too. One of the first drive-through Starbucks in the country is located in little ol' Plano. We are the pop crap mecca. Put that on the visitors' center brochure...
I have never felt more unwanted or unwelcome as to when I came and ate at Zoe's in Patton Creek. The big blonde girl that took my order was acting like I was ruining her life by ordering a chicken Roll up. Then she slammed my food on the table when she brought it to me. They were real unenthused about handing me an extra napkin and were pissed because I asked them to wipe my table. I will never give my business to Zoe's in Patton Creek. It is poorly run and the service was aweful.
...the vietnamese-themed Pho Quo Huong. (there is even a branch of each in east plano...
FYI, there's another Pho Quo Huong about to open in Addison.
