Starbucks™ cream liqueur

NYCE wasn’t up & running in Feb and thus couldn't wax when Starbucks released its coffee liqueur. THANK GOD they got another: Starbucks™ cream liqueur, which will surely do to Bailey’s what the coffee liqueur did to Kahlua. It'd be EZ here to gush over the "artful blend of cream, spirits, & hint of sbux coffee" or mention the alky level (15% for this, 20% for the coffee liqueur) or caffeine (cream: 9 mgs. coffee liqueur: 34. regular joe: 100++). But cooler are these floating factoids: Cordial-liqueur mkt = $4-5 bill. Cream liqueur market has 22 mil consumers, 3X more than for coffee liqueur. Starbucks research sez that nearly 50% of its "loyal patrons" drink coffee liqueur and are 9X more likely than the nat’l average to buy it. Anyway, just in time for the holidays tra la la

I think your average caffeine content (90 mg) for regular coffee is a bit off in today's post-Starbucks world, TG.

A 2003 study at the University of Florida did samplings of Sbux coffee at one Gainesville, FL, store.

According to a news release issued at the time:

"The study’s second phase used 16-ounce cups of Starbucks’ Breakfast Blend, a mix of Latin American coffees, purchased on six consecutive days from a single Gainesville store and analyzed by the same method. Results for the six days were, in order: 564 milligrams, 498 milligrams, 259 milligrams, 303 milligrams, 300 milligrams and 307 milligrams."

No wonder we all need the stuff to get ourselves moving in the morning!

I'm sure you are all aghast that I've replaced my sister as my PR agent. But before anybody gets ill or tries to off themeless, I'd like to offer some comfort. I've determined that Lee Anne has stretched her mental capacity to the limit and is on the verge of some serious craziness. To save her, I've made the momentous decision to limit her work to my very generous charity contributions. Together, we will single-handedly save New Orleans, which I hear will soon be struck by a devastating hurricane. We will do this until I become bored beyond belief. Thank you for understanding. If any of you need further relief, I suggest you contact your local L. Ron Cruise foundation.

I've got a bottle of the regular liqueur at home and it's gooooooood. I didn't see the cream version at the ABC Store (NC's state controlled liqour monop... uh store). The guy there said that they were about to put out the gift pack version which includes a $5 gift certificate to SBux.

kirk, thanx for the milligram report. the 90 mg definitely dates back to the pre-starbucks era when the "standard serving" was an under-amped 5 oz, averaged out to 90 mgs. but that IS pretty old-school. i'll insert a little modification ...

A wonderful post, as always, but -- and this is no way your fault -- I could've done without the topless Janet Jackson c/o the Drunk Report. Other than that, flawless!
